About the Miami Heat

Miami Heat Tickets

Welcome to Miami—one of the hottest cities in the country, in more ways than one. Whether you’re lounging on the beach or indulging in the city’s infamous nightlife, Miami is brimming with energy. In fact, the name of the city’s basketball team—the Miami Heat—says it all.

The Miami Heat may be one of the younger expansion teams in the NBA, but they’ve lit up the league like no other. Since their inaugural year in 1988, they’ve brought the spirit of Miami to life on the court and have created a legacy that any Heat fan or Miami native can take pride in.

The First Decade

The 1990s were a legendary time for many ball teams, but the Heat hit the decade hard and fast. Miami was big and bad, with monsters like Tim Hardaway, PJ Brown, and Alonzo Mourning exuding an on-court presence that challenged even some of their toughest competitors. The Heat’s rough, take-no-prisoners style was effective, considering that the team took four division titles in a row from 1997 through 2000.

During the ’90s, the Heat would develop a rivalry against another rough-and-ready team, the New York Knicks. The competition grew even more dramatic when Knicks head coach Pat Riley jumped ship from NY and took a coaching job in Miami in 1995, kicking the rivalry into high gear. Riley got the last laugh with that one, considering he’s been with the Heat in some capacity ever since.

Miami’s Hottest Legends

The ’90s ended with a bang for the Heat, but Miami’s newest basketball franchise was just warming up. Dwayne Wade helped the team win a title in 2006, aided by monster of the court, Shaquille O’Neal. And when fellow superstars Chris Bosh and LeBron James joined Wade on the roster in the early 2010s, the Heat became a dominant force in the NBA. The legendary trio—affectionately nicknamed the Big Three—were practically unstoppable.

Well, maybe not entirely. After back-to-back championships in 2012 and 2013, the Heat’s winning streak came to an end the following year, when the team lost to the Spurs, falling short of a three-peat victory.

The good news is that with a team this young, there’s still plenty of opportunity to continue to be showstoppers. With Dwayne Wade back in a Heat jersey, the future is certainly brighter. As anyone can tell you, Heat always rises to the top!

Frequently Asked Questions

Where do the Heat play?

The Miami Heat play at the American Airlines Arena, a 21,000-seat venue in downtown Miami, right on the edge of Biscayne Bay. Since its grand opening on New Year’s Eve 1999, the venue has acted as one of Miami’s premier venues for sports and entertainment. The venue hosted the NBA Finals three years in a row from 2012 through 2014 and also puts on concerts of all kinds throughout the year.

When do Heat tickets go on sale?

Since they play so many games all over the country, every NBA team needs to know its schedule for the entire season well in advance. All this planning makes it easy to get Heat tickets when they go on sale—but buying those tickets in advance might not be the best way to get them cheap.

When is the best time to buy cheap Heat tickets?

We know how exciting it is when tickets for your favorite NBA team go on sale—you’re ready to buy your seats right then and there! But here’s something you might not know: those Heat tickets are probably going to be cheaper if you wait. In fact, there are only a few exceptions to this rule, like in the case of the Heat playing a rival team or if they make it into the NBA Finals again.

Other than these instances, though, you’re always better off waiting to buy Heat tickets until the very last minute. The secret to this is simple: unsold tickets don’t make anyone money. It doesn’t matter if you’re buying directly from the NBA or if you’re purchasing from a reseller on a ticket marketplace. Waiting until it’s nearly game day means you’re most likely to find the cheapest possible tickets!

What’s the best way to buy cheap Heat tickets?

If you want to buy cheap Heat tickets, forget about going through the box office. Instead, buy the cheapest possible tickets with us. Resellers buy tickets directly from the NBA at a deep discount, and those savings are passed on to you when you buy from a ticket marketplace. When you wait until it’s almost game time, resellers drop their prices even more, so you can get the best prices almost every time.

Why should I choose Gametime over another ticket reseller?

Don’t pay more for the same great seats! We are proud to be one of the best ticket marketplaces around, and our service fees are some of the lowest. This means you’ll get the best price for Miami Heat tickets.

Our exclusive Gametime Guarantee means you’ll never have to worry about not getting your tickets in time for the game. In the unlikely event that you don’t have your tickets by the start of the game, we’ll replace your seats on our dime or you’ll get your money back.
