14. Where do the Bulls play?
The Bulls boast home-court advantage at the United Center in Chicago’s West Loop, which replaced the original venue, the Chicago Stadium, in 1994. In addition to the Bulls, the NHL’s Chicago Blackhawks also call the arena home. Despite the fact that it’s the largest venue in the country by size, its seating capacity is capped at 20,000 for both hockey and basketball games. The United Center is also one of the loudest venues ever, and that’s on purpose—engineers designed it to replicate “The Roar” of the old Chicago Stadium’s acoustics to commemorate the former arena.

More about the Chicago Bulls
No NBA team is more iconic than the 1990s Chicago Bulls, the team that had us all wanting to “Be Like Mike.” With a superstar lineup including Michael Jordan, Scottie Pippen Dennis Rodman, and legendary coach Phil Jackson, the Bulls dominated the ‘90s by setting records and winning championships left and right. But there’s more to the Bulls than the record-smashing seasons of the ’90s. The Bulls were a league contender prior to the Jordan/Pippen era and still have plenty of life left in them today. Here’s what you need to know about this solid-as-a-rock NBA team.
The Early Years
The Bulls have been a beloved Chicago institution since they were founded in 1966, with a strong hometown following enthusiastic fan base. Basketball has always been in Chicago’s blood—the Bulls were the third NBA team established in the city, following the short-lived Chicago Stags and the one-time Chicago Packers/Zephyrs, who quickly relocated to Baltimore as the Bullets (and eventually became the Washington Wizards).
Turns out third time’s a charm, and the Bulls successfully put down roots in the Windy City. The team’s earliest successes started in their first year, with the Bulls ending the 1966-67 season with the best record in expansion team history. They also qualified for the playoffs that same year, setting the stage for many exciting seasons to come.
The Legendary 90s
With such a great start, it was only a matter of time before the Bulls’ success ballooned. Joining the team in 1984, Michael Jordan brought the Bulls into a new era of basketball with energy and versatility that the NBA hadn’t before seen. Jordan’s long-range accuracy, ability to drive to the hoop, and unabashed love of the game lit the world on fire—and spurred millions in Nike sneaker sales. Famed player Magic Johnson once said, "There's Michael Jordan, and then there is the rest of us.”
Matching Jordan’s offensive greatness was Scottie Pippen’s defensive panache. The duo balanced each other in every way and complemented the rest of the team perfectly—and as a result, the Jordan/Pippen years saw the Bulls secure six NBA championship wins. Pippen’s defense was so strong that he drove the Bulls to the Eastern Conference Finals even after Jordan’s retirement.
The Future is Wide Open
Since the ‘90s, the Bulls have had their fair share of ups and downs. A major rebuilding period saw minimal bright until Derrick Rose joined the team in 2008 and things turned around for a few years. Along with coach Tom Thibodeau, Rose helped spearhead a new age of Bulls basketball. But with injuries sidelining Rose and the Bulls management parting ways with Thibodeau, the team is once more in a transition phase.
Bulls fans have their fingers crossed, hoping the near future will see the Chicago legend come to life once again. With this much legacy behind them, the Chicago Bulls won’t be staying out of the spotlight for long—it’s only a matter of time until the team is breaking records once again!
