About Oakland Coliseum

RingCentral Coliseum

The RingCentral Coliseum, located near San Leandro Bay, is one of the most unique sporting venues in the United States. It’s the last remaining stadium that serves as the home field for both a professional baseball and football team. The Oakland Athletics have made their home there since the 1968 season while the Oakland Raiders had a stint there from 1966 to 1981 and then returned to the Coliseum in 1995.

Following approval of a new naming-rights agreement by the Oakland-Alameda County Coliseum Authority, the venue’s name has recently been changed from Oakland Coliseum to RingCentral Coliseum. The new deal calls for Belmont-based cloud communications provider RingCentral to pay $1 million annually for at least three years, with an option to extend the agreement for one extra year.

Prior to RingCentral Coliseum, the venue had multiple naming-rights deals in place such as Network Associates Coliseum, McAfee Coliseum, Overstock.com Coliseum, and O.Co Coliseum.

Best Places to Sit at RingCentral Coliseum

For RingCentral Coliseum sports events, particularly baseball, it can be a little difficult to find seats that are close to the action. This typically means that the best seats are the ones closest to the field and behind home plate, specifically sections 112-122. These sections, especially the back rows, will give you a good view of the field and make you feel right up next to the action. Meanwhile, any place in the upper deck will make you feel like you’re a mile away.

For football, the best seats will be in the lower-level and close to the 50-yard line, not surprisingly. Sections 141-143 and 116-118 provide great views for fans – of course, those tickets are among the most expensive. Slightly cheaper tickets that still offer a view of the field can be found in the corner, specifically sections 209-212, as these seats are more likely to be in the shade during an afternoon game and will have a good view of both the field and the stadium’s video boards.

Tips for Visiting RingCentral Coliseum

We can't recommend this enough... check. the. weather. before attending a three-hour long (if not more) baseball or football game. In the afternoon, RingCentral Coliseum can get quite warm and offers very few shaded areas. However, as soon as the sun even starts to go down, it’ll get chilly in a hurry. If you’re not used to the weather in Northern California, you’ll have to dress for both summer and fall at the same time. Layers!

Food to Try at RingCentral Coliseum

The RingCentral Coliseum features many local businesses that set up shop during games. First, there’s Ribs & Things BBQ, which offers both brisket and ribs that are covered in tasty barbecue sauce. There are also two locations in the stadium to get five different types of sausages from a local favorite called Saag’s. Fans who prefer pizza can find great brick oven pies at the West Side Club. That’s also a great place to try some wines from Napa and Sonoma. After all, it wouldn’t be Northern California without a little vino.
