About Memorial Stadium Nebraska

Memorial Stadium

Memorial Stadium is a college football stadium on the University of Nebraska campus in Lincoln, Nebraska. Since 1923, it’s been used as the home field of the Nebraska Cornhuskers football team. The stadium is sometimes known as the “Sea of Red,” while the field at Memorial Stadium is named in honor of longtime Nebraska coach Tom Osborne. Memorial Stadium has been a friendly home for the Cornhuskers, who have ten home winning streaks of at least ten games at the stadium, including a 47-game winning streak that covered most of the 1990s. In its 100 years or so of existence, Memorial Stadium has received several expansions and now has a capacity of over 85,000 fans for football games.

Where are the Best Places to Sit at Memorial Stadium

Sections 5-9 and 24-28 are the best places to sit for a football game at Memorial Stadium, as these sections are close to midfield. Specifically, rows 10-25 in those sections will offer enough elevation to see the entire field while also getting you close to midfield. Sections 105-107 will also put you close to midfield and offer an elevated view of the field without feeling too far away from the action.

Tips for Visiting Memorial Stadium

Nebraska football games at Memorial Stadium are filled with traditions that fans won’t want to miss. There is a parade, the team’s Unity Walk, and a pregame concert by the marching band. The Hall of Fame Plaza is also another spot that visitors will want to check out on game day to learn more about the history of Nebraska football. Off-campus, the city of Lincoln also has some interesting attractions to check out before or after a game, including the state capital. The Railyard, a massive entertainment complex with plenty of places to eat and drink, is also a short walk from the stadium.

Food to Try at Memorial Stadium

For in-game eating, Memorial Stadium has over 100 food carts or concession stands scattered throughout the stadium. The most unique item available is beef-filled bread dough, which can be found at Runza. The hamburgers, brats, and brisket sandwiches at Memorial Stadium are especially tasty because Nebraska is a farming state. Valentino’s Pizza is also a fan favorite within the stadium while anyone looking for ice cream or a milkshake should visit the UNL Daily Store inside Memorial Stadium.
