About Jordan-Hare Stadium

Jordan-Hare Stadium

Just over a hundred miles southeast of Birmingham, Jordan-Hare Stadium in Auburn, Alabama, sits on the campus of Auburn University. The 10th largest venue in the NCAA, this outdoor football stadium holds up to 87,000 screaming fans and has a reputation for one of the best gameday atmospheres around!

The History of Jordan-Hare Stadium

Named for Shug Gordon and Cliff Hare, two legendary football players from Auburn University, Jordan-Hare Stadium was built in 1939 to replace their tiny little football field that was so small they couldn’t host more than one home game a year. When it opened its doors, it was known as Auburn Stadium, but in 1949, to coincide with its first renovation and expansion, it was renamed Cliff Hare Stadium. Shug Gordon had his name added to the venue in 1973, and the rest – after dozens more renovations and expansions – is history.

What’s So Special About Jordan-Hare Stadium Events?

Jordan-Hare Stadium is notoriously fun and raucous. It’s also one of the most intimidating venues to play at if you’re a visiting team, so if you’re looking for the Auburn Tigers to tear an opponent to pieces you’re definitely in the right place! Other than that, the stadium is remarkably well-updated for its age, featuring a giant LED videoboard that’s currently the largest in the NCAA. You won’t miss a thing no matter where you’re sitting in this fantastic stadium!
