About American Family Field
Miller Park
Since 2001, the Milwaukee Brewers have played their home games at Miller Park. The stadium is located to the west of downtown Milwaukee and was built to replace Milwaukee County Stadium. Miller Park features both a retractable roof and natural grass, as large panes of glass help allow in enough sunlight so that grass can grow. The stadium hosted the MLB All-Star Game in 2002, a game that infamously ended in a tie, as well as more than a dozen concerts and a few international soccer matches.
Best Places to Sit at Miller Park
The best place to sit at a Miller Park sporting event, especially if you want to be close to the action, will be in sections 116-119. These are right behind home plate, though the further back (and thus higher) you go, the better view you'll have. The sections behind each of the dugouts also offer great sightlines, so it’s hard to go wrong with sections 111-113 and 122-124. Finally, Loge Level seats in sections 216-221 offer a little more elevation and a great view from right behind home plate, especially if you’re in one of the first few rows because it’ll almost feel like a lower-level seat with regard to your proximity to the field.
Tips for Visiting Miller Park
One thing you can’t miss at a Miller Park event is the Sausage Race that occurs in the middle of the 6th inning in which five hot-dog themed mascots race around the field. A true Wisconsin tradition! Also, make sure you remain standing after singing “Take Me Out to the Ballgame” in the middle of the 7th inning because Milwaukee fans follow it up by singing “Roll Out the Barrel,” paying homage to the city’s beer-making roots.
Food to Try at Miller Park
If you like sausages, Miller Park – and Wisconsin in general, for that matter – will feel like your own personal heaven. Concession stands throughout the stadium serve a variety of brats, sausages, and hot dogs that are some of the best stadium fare you can find. If sausages aren’t your thing, don’t worry – there's plenty of other food to overindulge in. Specifically, you should take a chance and try the nachos on a stick. The name may be a little confusing, but it’s just meat and beans wrapped on a stick and rolled in crushed-up Doritos. It’s then deep-fried to make it look like a corn dog and served with cheese, salsa, and sour cream. Heart attack on a stick? Or best invention ever? ...Or maybe both?
